Matthewisms and other ramblings
Well for 3 days I thought it was my computer that wouldn't let me on Xanga home. I could read subscriptions from the iPad and Kindle Fire but I could do nothing on the regular computer. Last night Will checked somewhere to find out that it was Xanga who was having the problem and not our computer.......that is reassuring, anyway.
Friday, Matthew was taking about going up to camp with his parents and asked what I was going to do on Sat. I said I think I will get my haircut. His first question was why?! I said, doesn't your other grandmas both have short hair? He said "Yes, but that is no reason to get your hair cut just because the other grandmas did"! I told him Papa likes short hair better anyway! (yeah, I know
) "Well, he said, if you are doing it for Papa, I guess that is a good reason but just to be like the other grandmas is not a good reason to get your hair cut, Gramma"
Matt and I were getting ready to make cinnamon buns on Tues. when the oven wouldn't light but you could smell the gas. I thought natural gas had no odor. Anyway, Will came home to check it and said it was the igniter. He called Sears and they said they would come on Thurs. morning. It would be $75 just to come and the igniter was $130. When Tom came to pick up Matt he looked at it and said it was definitely the igniter. We canceled the service call and bought the part at the parts store about a mile from our house. It was $20. Will is going to fix it on Saturday.
Tuesday it was 103 here with a heat index of 115. It was very hot. We spent most of the day in the air conditioning and Matt went into the pool in the afternoon once the shade came to the back yard.
We went to the library again on Wed. afternoon. He got a small lantern as a prize for the books he read last week. He wanted to go to Party City and see if they had any Indiana Jones costumes in stock. What they had was very cheesy looking and it was a fortune. I may order him a new whip online as the one Papa made is actually falling apart.........Indy uses it a lot!
When we were at the library yesterday, he took out a DVD of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. We watched it yesterday and then again today after baby girl went home.
I bought some bubble stuff and we have been blowing bubbles all week once baby girl got up from her nap. I love the way she squeals when she tries to catch the bubbles.

today was only 78 degrees here! and sunny & breezy. it's supposed to be really cool tonight. i hope you cool down soon--karen
Matt is such a cutie pie!
It's been really hot here, too! They said tomorrow (Friday) is supposed to be over 106° with the heat index even higher. I will be in the swimming pool, cooling down and then in the AC! This weather is crazy!
You're right, natural gas itself has no odor, but the gas company adds something to it so it's detectible if there is some sort of leak. A good thing!
First off ~Happy belated Anniversary~ sorry I missed it. I love, love, loveeee the headboard, & quilt set. I am a big fan of greens.
Matthew is a hoot---I love all your post of things he says. I cut my hair a few weeks ago I have got it down pat now so I don't go have it done anymore haven't in years. I am also aging gracefully with the gray lol.
ryc: Thanks for your kind words & prayers---
I am so glad that it was just a simple part. I experienced that my self this week with my car. I just hate to need a repairman. In this day and age we can't expect all encounters with repairmen to be honest, etc. We sure do need a son or son-in-law to save the day. By the way I did pray over the car that it would be a simple fix and it was. No prayer is too small for God.
I'm glad your hubby knew what to do about the ignitor. I have a handy hubby who can and has fixed things, rather than pay a ridiculous price to have it done by someone else, although sometimes his confusion or bad back makes the situation worse. Matt is so funny.. How many times have I said that?
I agree with his reasoning regarding grandmas and haircuts!
We are also getting ready to go to the pool after the sun goes a little further behind the building! I just don't want to sit there and boil while we wait-so I convinced my little man to give it a few more minutes to cool off a bit.
